Recordings

Over the years, Harvey and his choirs released seven LP records. Some were simply recent performances deemed brag-worthy, and some were from events such as performances at the International Clarinet Congress.

These recordings were all but lost for a time. We have recorded and digitized them from the original LP albums. We are aware that recording quality is not the best. Some of the vinyl albums sitting in original shrink-wrap for the last 20-30 years fared better than others. But we feel the spirit of the original performances is still evident and that it's worth keeping these recordings available.

Over time, we hope to wade through the library containing tape-recorded performances over a 30-year run, and present some of those recordings here. It will take a while. (And we hope the tape is in better shape than the vinyl!)

For starters, though, here are the original seven recordings. You can either listen to each selection online or click the "zip file" link to download the entire album as a zip file. If you intend to burn your own CD-R, note that any two of these records will fit together on a single CD and that you should add gaps between selections.

A note about names:
In the beginning, the college-aged choir was named the Champaign-Urbana Clarinet Choir and the high school-aged group was the "Junior" choir (or kiddie choir, as it was commonly called -- and I was a member so I can say that!). Later, Director of Bands Dr. Harry Begian approved the name University of Illinois Bands Clarinet Choir, and the "Junior" choir was promoted to be the Champaign-Urbana Clarinet Choir. We have preserved all names as they appeared originally on the LP jackets here.

Any feedback is welcome!
